A few years ago, I took my first trip to the Middle East. Prior to this, I hadn’t heard much about Jordan so my expectations were quite low. I was dazzled! Warm weather, sparkling blue waters and the most spectacular sunsets – it was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken! I was there for a few days of work in September 2017 and extended my trip to do a little sightseeing. I split my days in Jordan between Amman, the Dead Sea and Petra. Here are a few pictures of the trip:
.
Arriving at Queen Alia International Airport. The most beautiful airport I’ve seen, built entirely out of concrete by Norman Foster.
Welcome drink at the hotel (delicious)
Unbelievable views from the hotel.
Experiencing the Dead Sea.The Dead Sea is a salt lake, which means that it’s not a conducive environment for fish and aquatic plants to live in. Hence the sea being ‘dead’.
.
Saw the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen! Just breathtaking. I didn’t feel like the pictures were doing it justice.
Met up with my friend Vimbai who was working in Amman at the time. I really enjoyed this restaurant!
.
Took a day trip to Petra, a historic city in Jordan that is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
.
Walking through Petra
Had one of my favourite fruits – pomegranates!
.
Ended my trip to Jordan with a visit to a local market (can’t remember its name). Love the coloured bowls!
Looking forward to being able to travel freely again in the near future! On my travel bucket list:
- Tokyo, Japan
- New Zealand
- Oaxaca, Mexico
- Los Angeles
