Korean skincare products and techniques are some of the most revered in the beauty world. I have quite a few K-Beauty products in my routine and always keen to try new ones. KumKangKind sent me a bunch of skincare from their store to try and after approximately two months of using them, I’m here to report back!

Please note my skin type is oily, acne-prone.

Products I tried

Sooyeonhoo Eye Cream

Kshs 2,000

I haven’t used an eye product in a long time! This eye cream from Sooyeonhoo is rich in Red Ginseng, Pomegranate and Pearl Extracts and promises to tighten, brighten and reduce the appearance of black eye circles, puffiness, lines and wrinkles. It also contains Niacinamide which has a brightening and hydrating effect under the eye. This product has definitely been moisturising to my eye area and it’s felt great to use a targeted treatment.

Bellalussi Snail-Infused Essence

Kshs 2,315

Essence is quite a staple in Korean skincare routines. They are great for hydration and can be used to prime the skin before serums and moisturiser. This essence from Bellalussi is gooey and soothing to the skin due to the fact that it has snail mucus extract alongside glycolic acid, mucin and collagen. It felt great on my skin and adds a glow. Add this to your routine if you’re looking to get your skin supple and improve its elasticity.

Pure Label Mung-Bean Cleanser

Kshs 2,840

I was quite sceptical about this cleanser initially, but it exceeded my expectations. The cleanser is based off mung beans which are known to be rich in iron and zinc. I like the creamy consistency of the cleanser and it lathers up very well on the skin. After use, my face felt sufficiently cleaned without being stripped. It was also lightly scented which I loved – always left my skin feeling fresh in the morning. I will definitely be re-purchasing!

Veridique Cica-Calendula Foam Cleanser, Toner, Cream & Serum

Kshs 4,635 Kshs 4,275, Kshs 3,250, Kshs 2,950

This range of products from Veridique contain two key ingredients: cica-centella asiatica and calendula, both known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory effects. The toner and serum were my favourites! The toner is infused with calendula extracts, smells like green tea and is quite hydrating on the skin. The serum left me glowing and radiant and promises to retain the elasticity of your skin. A bit pricey but certainly worth it! I’d recommend this range for people with sensitive skin especially.

Bellalussi Paw Paw Sunscreen (SPF 50+PA+++)

Kshs 3,150

I saw Patricia Kihoro speak about this sunscreen earlier in the year and felt inclined to try it out. It’s been five months since I started using it and I’d highly recommend! It’s a hybrid sunscreen with both mineral (has zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) and chemical elements and has a fruity scent. This sunscreen is packed with niacinamide, sunflower extract, shea butter, paw paw extract and snail mucin. It blends into dark skin really well and does not leave a white cast! This is suitable for all skin types (although if your skin is sensitive to scent, you might want to patch test).

Jumiso All-Day Vitamin Wash-off Mask

Kshs 3,000

I’m an aggressive mask-er so was very excited to try this! This mask is gel-based and infused with 15-vitamin complex and lemon peel. It specifically targets texture and revitalises the look of dull skin. After cleansing, you slather it on your skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. My skin felt renewed and nourished after use. This is definitely a mask to add to your collection! I’d recommend using it once a week.

Pure Label Berry Body Lotion

Kshs 6,899

This paraben-free moisturiser comes in a 750ml bottle and is packed with berry extract (anti-oxidant rich) and macadamia oil (highly moisturising). If you like fruity scents for your body, you’d certainly enjoy this! Although it’s a good product, it’s quite highly priced.

If you’d like to try any of the products I’ve mentioned, you can shop for them via the KumKangKind website and use my code TEREMBESKIN to get Kshs 300 off any purchase above Kshs 1,999 (code valid from December 1st to June 2022)! Alternatively, you can find their products on Jumia (my code BLOWTEREMBE will also get you a discount). Check out their blog where they talk in more detail about the products they sell.
